I first qualified as an ADI in 2001 and worked mainly in Chichester for a local driving school. I then worked as an independent instructor for some years in the Littlehampton area. After a few years away from the industry I am back and delighted to be associated with 1st Castle School of Motoring.
I love the variety in my work and being out and about in different areas. My vast years of experience along the south coast means that I am very familiar with the areas covering Chichester and Lancing test centres.
It is not for me to say what my particular attributes as an instructor may be but I can say that I love what I do and feel that anyone wanting to learn such an important skill as safe driving should also enjoy that experience. We all learn better when we are enjoying what we do and I aim to make each lesson a pleasant experience. I am particularly sensitive to people who are nervous or worried about the prospect of driving, certainly, in my early days especially, I built my career around teaching pupils who found the whole thing very daunting so I would like to think that anyone who gets into my car will feel at ease.
Being an ADI is such a rewarding job and important too when you can honestly feel you are making a contribution to safer roads. My very favourite part though is when I see someone who had never driven before they met me, with a big smile on their face and a pass certificate in hand after a test; I am always so glad I chose this career.
