It’s bad news I’m afraid – when in a TIER 4 restricted area, driving lessons and driving tests can not go ahead. Your instructor should contact you, please consider they will have to contact all their pupils.
If you have a driving test booked and you live in a TIER 4 location, you CAN NOT travel to another TIER to take your test!.
However, if your home address, as on your driving licence, is in a TIER 4 area but you and the test centre is in a lower TIER, you will be able to take your test – HOWEVER – you MUST take some current official documentation with you – for example: property rental agreement, current phone bill or utility bill (must include your name and the current address), then the examiner knows you are in different accommodation – for example, University students.
If your test is cancelled then the DVSA will automatically rebook your test, at no additional costs to you. Please ensure you and your instructor are available for the new test date and time. Also the new date will be months away, so discuss with your instructor and agree a plan about lessons going forward up to that new test date – a difficult decision as we don’t want to keep having lessons for the sake of it, yet we also don’t want you to lose these new skills and confidence.
Simple checks:
- You are in a TIER 4 area = NO LESSONS
- Your test area is in a TIER 4 area but you are in a TIER 3 or lower area = Lessons can go ahead – Test will be rescheduled.
- You have been in contact with someone who has tested positive – NO TEST or LESSONS – and you MUST isolate as per the current guidelines.
If you are unsure – please ask your instructor or call the office.
